Day 150 - A Rainy Reset Day While the Kids Roamed Free

Another slow morning. You could feel the carryover from the last few days. Everyone was still tired, so we all slept in again, well past 8. Kia and I were up first, coffees in hand, easing into the day before the kids rolled out.

It was heavily overcast, one of those days where you’re not sure what it’s going to do. Emmett smashed down a quick breakfast and was straight out the door to see if his mate was around after being gone all day yesterday. Maddie wasn’t far behind, hanging around for a bit before thinking about heading out too.

About ten minutes after Emmett left, the rain hit. Proper rain. Maddie got stuck inside for a while, just cruising around, cleaning her room and doing little jobs. Eventually I talked her into walking down to the shop to grab some bread rolls, ham, and cheese. I was making some breakfast, and Kia had already started getting stuck into work.

The plan for the day was to keep pushing forward on Kia’s website and get things set up properly for remote sessions.

By the time the rain eased, Maddie headed off to find Emmett. They ended up at their friend’s place playing Lego, and from there they were pretty much gone for the rest of the day.

Kia headed to her exercise class, I went to the gym, and we both got back around 11. More coffee, a bit of food, then straight into the website work. We started making some good changes and added the booking system in, which felt like a solid step forward.

But the internet had other ideas.

Because of the rain, everyone was inside, and the connection was terrible. Everything was slow, glitchy, and stop-start. It made even the simplest tasks frustrating. I pushed through for a while but eventually gave up mid-afternoon. Couldn’t get any real traction.

I ended up just pottering around, picking up my Rubik’s Cube again and trying to crack the final step. I’m close, but still not quite there.

Kia kept pushing on with the website despite the internet, and in between that we started looking ahead a bit. Flights out of Morocco, next steps, rough planning. Nothing locked in yet, just starting to explore options.

It turned into a proper indoor day.

The kids, on the other hand, barely stopped. I went looking for Emmett around 3 to see if he wanted to hit the bike track up the road. He said he’d be home in half an hour… but never showed.

They’d found a bunch of snails after the rain and decided to collect them and try to sell them. Between that, building little bike tracks, playing Lego, and just riding laps around the resort, they kept themselves completely occupied all day.

That’s pretty much their routine at the moment. Bikes, friends, exploring, and making up their own fun as they go.

The pool was closed most of the day and it was too cool anyway, so no swimming. Hopefully tomorrow warms up a bit.

I ended up heading out around 8 to find them again, but as I walked out they were already on their way back up the street. Maddie had come home earlier for some food, but Emmett had gone all day. Barely ate, just stopped in for water here and there, then straight back out.

Quick dinner, showers, and into bed. Maddie was out before Emmett even finished eating. Both of them completely wrecked.

It wasn’t the most exciting day on paper, but it was one of those good ones. Slow for us, full for the kids.

Hopefully a bit more sunshine tomorrow so we can get out and explore properly again.
