Day 149 - A Slower Day After Movieland Including Bikes, Pool, and an Easy Reset

After the big day at Movieland and getting everyone into bed early, we still all slept in. It was needed. Everyone was pretty spent by the end of yesterday, so there was no rush this morning. We were all up well past 8, easing into it.

Coffees on, kids into breakfast, and Emmett was ready to go straight away. He just wanted to get out and explore, so he jumped on his bike and headed off to see if his mate was around. They were heading into Verona for the day though, so he was back not long after. It worked out anyway with tennis lessons coming up.

Emmett and Kia headed up to tennis while Maddie stayed back, just quietly sorting out her room. She’s got gear everywhere at the moment and was keen to get a bit of order back into it. I stayed back as well, made some more coffees, had some breakfast, and then snuck down to the gym.

I dropped a coffee up to Kia first, then got into a bit of a workout and a cycle session. Ran into our Austrian mate down there who’s still working his way back from a broken ankle. He can’t run yet, but he’s good on the bike, so we lined up a ride for the afternoon.

Back from the gym, everyone was ready for the pool. The kids were already down there by the time Kia and I got there, and that pretty much set the tone for the day. It was one of those easy ones. Swim, lay in the sun, chat, repeat. Nothing rushed, nothing planned.

We headed back mid-afternoon so the kids could do some t-shirt painting and I met up with my mate for a ride. There was a bit happening down by the lake later on, boats, people gathering, a bit of a social thing going on, but by the time I got back, none of us were really up for it.

It probably would have been a good chance to get amongst it, meet more people, but we were all just a bit flat. The kind of tired that sits under the surface. We’d been moving all day again between tennis, gym, bikes, pool, and everything in between.

So we called it.

Stayed in, cooked a good dinner, and just hung out together. We ended up watching some old videos from when Maddie was a baby back in Darwin. The kids love that. It always turns into a mix of laughter and a bit of disbelief at how little they once were.

Another early night followed.

It was one of those days that doesn’t look big on paper, but it felt full. The kind of day that keeps everything ticking without pushing too hard. The resort was buzzing, the weather was perfect, and there was plenty happening around us, but we just stayed in our own lane.
