How We Travel
australia - Home
Not only do we call Australia home, but we have also travelled significantly across the great southern land. In 2017 we set off from Darwin, Northern Territory, in our trusty old ute and our 1987 Jayco Songbird caravan to follow the coastline all the way to Mackay Queensland. Our daughter Maddison was 15 months old at the time. We completed the journey over several months and had an absolute blast. Ultimately this adventure was the catalyst for our current gap year.
Previous Trips
Kia and I had both travelled with friends before we met back in 2011. Since then, we’ve explored Europe and South-East Asia together. Each trip built a bit more confidence, sparked more curiosity, and left us wanting to see more.
Running wild together
This is the trip we’re currently on.
A full year of travelling as a family of four. Living out of suitcases, worldschooling the kids, and figuring things out as we go.
This part of the journey is about more than just where we go. It’s about how we experience it, how we grow as a family, and what we learn along the way.
Where we are going
This is the part we don’t fully know yet.
We have rough plans, ideas, and places we’d love to see, but one of the biggest lessons so far has been to stay flexible. Plans change. Opportunities come up. Sometimes you just follow a feeling.
This section is a look at what’s ahead, knowing that it will likely evolve as we go.
How we travel
We’ve stayed in resorts, hotels, motels, villa’s, hostels, caravaned, campervanned, camped and travelled by train, boat, bus, van, taxi, tuktuk, golf buggy, scooter, plane and just about everything in between. We’re not afraid to try something new.
Our travel is a mix of slow living and quicker, more tourist-style movement depending on where we are and what feels right at the time.
We’ve got plenty more we want to try too, including a transcontinental cruise and a sailing trip.
