Day 139 - Last Full Day in San Foca: Beach Runs, Cliff Jumps and a Rare Date Night

Day 139 recap. Pretty standard start to the morning, up around 8, coffees, and out the door for a run. Took a bit of convincing to get Maddie moving, but she came around and we all headed out together. After yesterday where Emmett and I managed about 1.5km straight, he was keen to back it up, so we split into pairs. Him and I ran together, and Kia and Maddie headed off together.

We got to just under that same distance again before Maddie dropped off from Kia and started walking. She ended up out of sight, so I let Emmett keep going and turned back to grab her. Once you get a little out of town it opens up a bit, more space between houses, so I just didn’t want her walking on her own. She was a bit upset about the whole thing, being left behind and me having to come back, but we regrouped and all headed down to a new coffee spot right on the beach.

The place was unreal. They were in full clean-up mode getting ready for the season, combing the beach with a machine, and we were just sitting there on the deck, right on the water, coffees in hand while the kids had juices. We ended up staying there for ages, had a second coffee, and it was just one of those really good, slow starts to the day.

Back to the accommodation after that, grabbed our usual bread rolls and eggs, cooked up breakfast, and then got stuck into a bit of packing and sorting. Last full day here, so we wanted to get ahead of it. I packed a fair bit of my bag, we shuffled things around, and the kids cleaned up all their Easter stuff. Still plenty to do tomorrow, but we made a dent.

By the afternoon we needed to get out, weather was still good, bit windier but clear skies. Emmett and I were keen to head back to the grotto. Maddie and Kia weren’t too fussed, but we wanted more footage and another crack at the jumps. Got the drone up, set it hovering, landed it, and then we jumped in a few times, grabbed some GoPro shots.

Then we went around to the other side of the cliffs where you jump straight into the open ocean. We’d seen some guys do it the other day and wanted to give it a go. Got the drone back up, set it up, and both sent it. Bit higher, deeper water, way better jump. Bit of a scramble to get out, but that’s part of it. We did it twice in the end and Emmett was absolutely pumped. That was the stuff we came here for, and it finally all lined up after a couple of weeks of average weather.

From there we headed back to the same beach bar from the morning and grabbed a table on the sand. Ended up setting up a long jump comp which turned into a solid hour of running, jumping, measuring, filming, just mucking around. Kia and I chilled for a bit while the kids ran around playing games with sticks. Just one of those easy afternoons where no one’s rushing anywhere.

Back to the place after that, showers for the kids, and then Kia and I snuck out for a date night at the restaurant next door. Maddie cooked dinner for her and Emmett and we set them up with a movie. First proper uninterrupted conversation we’ve had since leaving, which was pretty nice to be honest. Nothing crazy, just sitting there talking without being needed every five seconds.

Came back, kids were all good, everyone into bed, and yeah, last full day in San Foca done. The weather’s finally turned it on and it’s starting to feel like a bit of a home base with our routines and spots. Definitely one we’re going to miss. Last day tomorrow before we head off toward Lake Garda.
