This blog is our daily journal from the road. These posts capture our days as they unfold while travelling long term as a family. They’re written in real time, without polish or hindsight, and reflect the small moments, routines, and rhythms of life on the move.
Longer reflections and feature stories live separately on our Stories page.
Day 31 - The Last Day of the Hub (Slow Runs, Goodbyes & Neon Lights)
A sweaty double run in heavy humidity, poolside beers, slow goodbyes and a neon party to close it all out. Day 31 marked the final official day of the hub. A nothing day in the best possible way.
Day 30 - Beach Clean-Up, Beers by the Water & Karaoke Night at the Hub
A slow morning turned into one of our most meaningful days yet. We joined 20 families to clean a local beach in Phu Quoc, filled 13 garbage bags in an hour, then celebrated our final hub night with karaoke, kids on stage, and a whole lot of Wonderwall. Simple. Powerful. Unforgettable.
Day 29 - Skipping Ropes, Fishing Lines & Four Weeks in Vietnam
From an impromptu skipping rope lesson that turned into a kids’ fitness takeover, to hand-reel fishing off a boat near the islands of Vietnam, Day 29 delivered saltwater backflips, flying fish sightings and a tired-kid meltdown to finish. Four weeks into Vietnam, we’re still riding the highs, navigating the hiccups, and loving the people we’re meeting along the way.
Day 28 - Recovery Mode, Talent Shows & Almost Tools Down
After a massive day, we slowed things right down. An easy morning run, long social breakfast, pool time with new friends, and a surprisingly awesome kids’ talent show. With work nearly wrapped for the year, we’re finally close to tools down mode.
Day 27 - When the Wheels Came Off: Starfish Beach and a Tough Travel Lesson
Starfish Beach was everything you imagine, boardwalks, houses on stilts, crystal water and starfish everywhere. But while one part of our family soaked up the postcard-perfect day, the other hit a wall. Day 27 was a reminder that long-term travel isn’t always glamorous. Sometimes the wheels come off, and that’s part of the journey too.
Day 26 - Pickleball, Polish Vodka & the Countdown to Christmas
After a huge day at VinWonders, we slowed things down with long breakfast chats, smoothie bowls, pickleball battles and a dads’ night featuring traditional Polish alcohol. Work is ramping up, Christmas shutdown is in sight, and holiday mode can’t come soon enough.
Day 25 - The Biggest Day Yet: Theme Parks, Water Slides & Fire Shows at VinWonders
Day 25 was easily the biggest day of our trip so far. From rollercoasters and rapids to an unexpected aquarium inside a giant turtle and a fire-filled castle light show at night, VinWonders delivered nonstop action. We ran from ride to ride, smashed down water slides, bumped our heads racing each other on foam mats, and ended the night watching dragons and flames light up the sky. Absolutely unforgettable.
Day 24 - Sunset Paddleboards, Fire Shows & Rocket Fuel Rice Wine
Day 24 was a tale of two halves. A stressful workday, a tight hamstring forcing a rest from running, and then one of the most fun afternoons we’ve had so far. Sunset paddleboards, drone footage, a beachfront feast, fire twirling, and three unexpected shots of rice wine that definitely weren’t tea.
Day 23 - Adults vs Kids Soccer, Durian Ice Cream & A Scooter Crash
A sweaty 5km sunrise run, adults vs kids soccer in the heat, accidental durian ice cream, and a scooter crash right in front of our dinner table. Day 23 was equal parts chaos, culture and quiet reminders to stay switched on in Vietnam.
Day 22 - The World’s Biggest 3 Cable Car & A Wild Water Park Day
Day 22 delivered one of those unforgettable travel days. We flew over the ocean on the world’s biggest 3 cable car, watched Emmett conquer his fear on a wooden roller coaster, raced each other down water slides, and laughed until our cheeks hurt. A huge day of sun, courage and pure fun.
Day 21 - Rainy Day Workouts, $12 Acupuncture & King Kong Supermarket Chaos
Three weeks into our worldschooling adventure and the rain rolled in. We swapped adventure days, sweated through a hut workout, discovered electro-acupuncture for $12, and got completely lost inside King Kong Supermarket. A slower day that reminded us this trip isn’t just about big moments, it’s about the in-between ones too.
Day 20 - The Great Toilet Clog of 2025 & A Rain-Soaked Ride Home From Grandworld
A morning run with new friends, a plumbing disaster of international proportions, lantern-making, pickleball chaos, and a rain-soaked scooter ride through Vietnam at night. Day 20 had everything, including “spikey rain” at 60km/hr.
Day 19 - Running with New Mates, Bee Farms & Windy Scooter Rides
Day 19 at Le Forest brought shattered windows, windy scooter rides, honey kombucha, and a bee farm adventure. From early morning runs with new mates to swimming at Ong Lang Beach and Rosie’s latest toothbrush prank, it was another full day of family travel in Phu Quoc.
Day 18 - Jogging 3km to Soccer, Pickleball Battles & Rosie in the Freezer
Our first morning at Le Forest kicked off with Rosie hiding in the freezer, a 3km jog in the heat to make soccer, competitive dads flying around the field, and an afternoon of pickleball before scootering out for pho. A full, sweaty, slightly chaotic worldschool day, and we’re only just getting started.
Day 17 - Last Morning at Bambusa, Beach Bliss & a Power Surge Nightmare in Phu Quoc
Our final morning at Bambusa felt like leaving home. From Rosie hiding in the freezer preparing for Austria, to gifting koalas to new friends, to beach swims, chaotic world-schooling hub energy, and a wild 280-volt power surge that nearly fried our gear. Day 17 had everything.
