Day Thirteen - 03/12/25
Day 13 rolled in with another slow start and honestly, we’re not complaining. Rosie, our travelling elf, had moved again. This time she’d wedged herself inside a toilet roll with a note saying “Is this what the Cu Chi Tunnels felt like?” Pretty spot-on, to be honest. Tight squeeze and all. Nice to know she’s committed to experiencing Vietnam with us.
We woke up, wandered out onto the patio, and got stuck into another little family exercise session. Skipping ropes, bands, push-ups, the usual chaos.
After or exercising, we headed down for breakfast, same buffet, same delicious coffee and then it was back to the room. Power was back on from the day before, which meant I could get stuck into work properly. Knocked over a couple of hours while the kids did school with Kia and ran around with their new friend, Susie.
When I wrapped up, Maddie and I still had the scooter for a bit, so we zipped into town for lunch. We revisited that bakery from the day before because curiosity (and snacks) called. The kids grabbed these mini hamburger sliders, literally a pack of three tiny burgers, and some donuts. I thought the donuts were unreal. Kia strongly disagreed.
For Kia and I, I found a lady across the road running a small buffet-style setup, trays of meats, rice, veggies, sauces. After the dinner disaster the night before, Kia was very hesitant about me ordering anything, but it ended up being absolutely delicious. Full flavours, super rich, proper local cooking. Exactly the kind of food roulette that pays off.
We took everything back and had lunch together on the patio table, simple but one of those moments that just lands nicely.
Scooter went back after that, and we all slipped into a relaxed afternoon. Pretty sure we just swam and chilled.
Dinner was at a little pizza restaurant down the road. Turns out the guy who cooks our omelettes in the morning, Prabhy, also works there. They had a DJ booth set up, so the kids hopped in and played DJ while I filmed. Later we found out it was their first ever night having an actual DJ play, sadly we were too early to catch it.
But the pizza was great, the wine was good, desserts were a win, and we wandered home afterwards for an early night.
A cruisy, easy day. Nothing big, nothing dramatic, just good family time. Exactly what we needed.
