A morning workout, another island-wide power outage, Rosie hanging from the door sign, and scooter runs for banh mi. Day 12 was simple, slow, and unexpectedly perfect.

Day 11 in Phu Quoc brought rolling blackouts, scooter laptop commutes, an expensive jetty dinner in the dark, and a surprise visitor… Rosie the Elf on the Shelf somehow tracked us down in Vietnam.
Day 10 - Power Outages, Banh Mi and Market Chaos in Phu Quoc
Day 10 on Phu Quoc brought a full island blackout, crystal-clear water at Ông Lang Beach, pork noodle soup overload, and total chaos at the Duong Dong night markets when the power suddenly cut out. Generators fired up, Banh Mi was devoured mid-blackout, and we discovered the island’s subsea cable had been damaged. One of those wild travel days you’ll never forget.
Day 9 - Scooters, Sugar Limits and a Sunset Blackout in Phu Quoc
Day 9 in Phu Quoc brought scooter adventures, two stunning beaches, sugar-controlled kids, a dirt-track detour, and a surprise island-wide blackout. One of those simple, sunny days that ended better than expected.
Day 8 - Phu Quoc: Beach Rides, Buffet Feasts & Balancing Work With Worldschooling
A slow island Friday in Phu Quoc with buffet breakfasts, remote work, beach bike rides, surprise Vietnamese dishes and an uphill cycle that nearly finished our legs.
Day 7 - Ferries, Rough Seas and a Three-Car Shuffle to Phu Quoc
A full travel day from the Mekong Delta to Phu Quoc, complete with ferry crossings, bun shortages, rough seas, luggage chaos and a three-car shuffle before finally arriving at Bambusa Resort.
Day 6 - Slow Bikes, Sprayed Trees & Free Tea in the Mekong Delta
A slow family day in the Mekong Delta turned into chemical tree spray, condensed milk coffee overload, remote work from Vietnam, and a wholesome moment when a local café refused our money.
Day 5 - Kia’s Birthday 🎉on the Mekong Delta: Floating Markets, Sunrise Boats & River Life
Kia’s birthday began at 5am with a sunrise cruise along the Mekong Delta. From floating boat-breakfasts and bustling river markets to jungle lodges and a Vietnamese cooking class, it was a birthday like no other… chaotic, colourful, and unforgettable.
Day 4 - Mekong Delta Island Adventure: Coconuts, Archerfish and a Ferry in the Dark
A chaotic start turned into one of our most unforgettable days in Vietnam. From fresh coconuts and puffed rice explosions to archerfish encounters, buffalo rides and a surprise ferry crossing in the dark, our Mekong Delta island adventure with kids was pure magic.
Day 3 - Cu Chi Tunnels With Kids is Way More Fun! Crawling Through Vietnam’s Underground War History
On Day 3 in Ho Chi Minh City, we explored the Cu Chi Tunnels as a family, crawling through narrow underground passages, learning Vietnam’s war history from our brilliant local guide, and finishing the day with street shuttlecock and fresh pho.
Day 2 - Scooters, Street Food and Rooftop Views in Ho Chi Minh City
Day two in Ho Chi Minh City saw us riding scooters through District 1 and District 3, exploring Book Street and local temples, visiting historic memorials, wandering flower markets and finishing with pork noodles and street-side ice cream.
Day 1 - Touchdown in Ho Chi Minh City
We landed in Ho Chi Minh City at dawn, survived customs with bored kids, ate street-side bánh mì, and stumbled into an international martial arts festival.
