Day Thirty-One - 21/12/25

After a big night the evening before, Sunday started a little slower than usual. A few of the dads opted for a sleep-in, but Emmett and I still managed to get out for a short run together. We turned it into a mini adventure and clocked up about 2 km before heading back to the resort. I then headed out solo for another 6 km.

The humidity at the moment is next level. Every run ends the same way, absolutely drenched. Straight into the pool afterward for a much-needed cool down before meeting Kia and the kids for breakfast with all the other families.

Breakfast had a bit of a different feel. Some families were already peeling off and heading on to their next destinations. As sad as it is saying goodbye, it’s also incredibly exciting hearing about everyone’s plans, different countries, different adventures, different rhythms of travel. Those conversations always leave me feeling inspired, and they’ve even sparked a few possible tweaks to our own plans.

The rest of the day was intentionally slow. We hung around the pool, ducked out to grab some lunch, wandered through a few shops, and just let the day unfold without any real agenda. A proper “nothing day” in the best possible way. The kids played with their friends, and Kia and I actually sat by the pool with our feet up and just breathed for a bit.

With work officially finishing on the Friday, there was a real sense of freedom in the air. No emails hanging over me. No deadlines. Just a couple of beers, sunshine, and the feeling of having a big exhale after a busy few weeks.

In the evening, the hub wrapped things up with a neon party for the kids consisting of face painting, dancing, music, and plenty of laughs. The kids had an absolute blast, and it was a really fun way to close out the final official day together.

It wasn’t a big adventure day, and that was kind of the point. When the big days aren’t on, everything blends together a little, pool, food, chats, kids playing, and honestly, I’m okay with that. I’m looking forward to slowing things down even more, doing less, resting more, and just enjoying the simple moments as we keep moving.
