Day Thirty-Four - 24/12/25
Day 35 kicked off the same as previous days. Out early for a run with the guys. Super nice run again, flat, social, but ridiculously hot and sweaty. Still heaps of fun though, and a great way to start Christmas Eve.
Back at the resort, the kids were already up and had found Rosie (no surprises there). We headed down for breakfast with Kia and the kids, then the day split a bit. Kia wanted to head into King Kong to do some last-minute Christmas shopping, so she went in with a few of the other mums, and Maddie went along too. They ended up being gone for hours.
Emmett and I stayed back at the resort, cruising around, playing in the pool, and generally just taking it easy. We were literally about to head out for lunch when we got an SOS call from Kia that their taxis wouldn’t come up our street and they were stranded. So Emmett and I jumped out to find them, grabbed lunch together while we were out, and picked up our laundry at the same time.
The afternoon was pretty low-key. Back at the resort, bouncing between a bit of computer work, some packing and sorting, and just hanging around. That night there was a Secret Santa planned for everyone, with dinner together around 6:30.
Maddie had been talking about tacos for days, so I headed out and finally made it happen… and they were absolutely delicious. Worth the wait. Everyone sat around together, and the kids did their Secret Santa. They had to give hints about who they bought for, everyone guessed, then it went around the table. Super fun, lots of laughs, and a really nice vibe.
After that, the adults hung around having a few drinks and chatting… until Maddie came sprinting over saying she “needed the room key” and bolted back toward our room. I chased after her to make sure she was okay. Turns out she wasn’t feeling great, and not long after, I wasn’t either.
We ended up staying in the room, playing a bit of chess, then Emmett and Kia came back. With Christmas the next day and everyone feeling a bit off, we called it an early night.
All up, a pretty chill Christmas Eve. A bit of running around, some family time, good food, and a nice way to ease into Christmas Day.
