Austria
Clean, Calm, and a Different Kind of Culture Shock
After Vietnam, Austria felt like stepping into a different world.
Not just geographically… but in every way.
Everything slowed down, but in a different sense. Not the relaxed, chaotic kind of slow we’d just come from, but a structured, organised calm. Clean streets, fresh air, quiet towns, and a way of life that feels a lot more predictable.
It took a bit to adjust.
We’d just spent weeks navigating scooters, noise, and constant movement. Suddenly, we were walking through orderly streets, catching trains that ran exactly on time, and moving through places where everything just… worked.
It felt easy.
But it also felt very different.
Austria marked the start of our European chapter. A shift not just in location, but in lifestyle, pace, and how we experienced each day.
From cities filled with history to small towns surrounded by mountains, it gave us a completely new perspective on travel.
And it all started in Vienna.

A random Facebook post led us to Scharnstein, where we joined other families, learned to ski from scratch, and experienced village life in the Austrian Alps.
